You do not know what you are doing
You do not know what you are doing…
and that is okay
Working for over a decade in the coaching and training space has left me with the understanding that most people do not act because they have a fear that they do not know what they are doing. Designed to fail or do it incorrectly if they try to make an attempt.
Who wants to start something they suck at and may not get better? No one. We all have a strong apprehension to feeling inferior and want to gravitate to the activities we know best.
But at one time we knew how to do nothing well.
We all began from nothing. Every strength we have now is from concentration and exposure to that area over others. Over time, we have increased the gap between activities we are confident in and those we are not. To some of us it might feel that we have widened it to the point there is no point in acting.
I hate to tell you. You are wrong. But that is okay, because there is help here.
Stop worrying about getting it all right on the first step and just make the step.
Nothing can invigorate you faster than looking down the barrel of a new challenge.
And remember, the person who never steps up to the challenge fails all the same as the person who attempts it with no Earthly clue what they are doing. The difference?
Those who attempt gain experience to know one day what they are doing. Those who do not always stand idle at the starting line (or worse, never get out of bed).
Do not know what you are doing? Let us find out together.
